Introduction

The ships bow steadily breaks the waves on her way. A cascade of water flies through the air before returning back to the sea. The Captain stands with saltwater in his hair, next to his first mate, with a steady grip on the rudder. His eyes are focused ahead, these are dangerous waters and many a ship has fallen prey to the hidden reeves lying beneath the surface, just before reaching the shore. The ship has travelled far, and the men are growing increasingly restless. The past few days the crew has been living off of biscuits and to everybody’s displeasure, the rum has run out. Luckily enough for the Captain, they are now close to shore -he would very much enjoy not dealing with the disdainful crew for much longer. The Captain has promised his men booze, food and harlots once they finally reach the harbour, and the Captain always keeps his word. He beckons to his first mate, who takes the rudder from him and steers the ship hard to port to avoid yet another underwater reef. When the ship steers back front they can finally see the lights in the small windows ashore.

They have arrived. Before them lies the pirate capital and safe-haven, Tora Tora. The whole crew is standing on deck, their eyes filled with longing. Soon the rum shall flow, bellies will be filled and the whole town will know that Captain Dawson and his men are in town!

The loud chatter and singing is joining in chorus with the rumbles from fistfights, broken pints and the music playing. The keeper of the Pirate-tavern “the Rude Lady” is smiling to herself where she stands behind the bar, wiping an empty glass. Business is going well this evening, but nothing less was to be expected with le Capitan Dawson’s men in town. She curses at the stubborn stain, spits on it and continues rubbing it. She hasn’t been in such a good mood in… well… for a long time. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. The harlots are kept busy, the salesman is showing his wares left and right, the entertainer has more bets on his bet-list than he’s had for many a moon. At the table furthest to the back corner sits Captain Dawson himself, next to his first mate and navigator. Speaking of the navigator -he owes her money. A fair sum of money at that. She stands up, about to cross the tavern to their table when the doors suddenly swing open with a loud bang. The whole tavern quiets instantly (and I can assure that pirates are not the easiest to get to settle down) when a few men enter the tavern looking around. Captain Dawson slowly rises from his seat. This was a turn of events he had certainly not expected!
